Last minute show, 6/30/10

27 06 2010

In a freak turn of events which leaves us both dizzy and pleased, Immigrant Breast Nest’s Speak Onion and David B. Applegate will be joining NO Shoulders and Coin Star for a no-holds-barred bash-out on Wednesday, June 30th at The Charleston.  You’ll want to super-glue your wig to your noggin to keep it from getting irreparably flipped.  We’ll see you there.

13 06 2010

Speak Onion will be playing an extra special and intimate (wink, wink) set on the rooftop of Eton Trading in Greenpoint on Friday, and it’s 100% FREE! It’s part of From The Gut’s Saturation NYC event, a night of transformed space, art, sculpture, and sound. There’s more info at the Saturation facebook event listing, and the details are below.

Friday, June 18, 2010; I’ll play at probaly 10PM or so.
Eton Trading
238 Franklin Street (at Freeman), Greenpoint, NY

You really don’t want to miss this event. Look at this view from a generic Greenpoint rooftop! This is how rad it might look while Speak Onion is dropping abstract synth noises. Hell yeah!

Be there!

Speak Onion on Solipsistic Nation podcast about iphone/ipod/ipads

1 06 2010

The brilliant Solipsistic Nation podcast has featured Speak Onion in their recent show about people who use iphones/ipads/ipods to make electronic music. This show features various artists who use Apple’s mobile hardware in different ways to make all kinds of electronic music. The last 10 minutes or so of the show are devoted to our boy, Speak Onion, including an interview and his live set from last January, Speak Onion at Brecht Forum, January 19, 2009. Listen to Solipsistic Nation No. 193 right here.

Those of you know who’ve seen SO’s ruinous live styles may know that all those beats and loops are coming from an iphone running Beatmaker. They may get ripped apart afterwards, but that’s where they start. So go grab the new episode of Solipsistic Nation, and subscribe to their podcast while you’re there, because there’s plenty of new and awesome electronic music coming out of there every week.
